Certified to the demanding FIA 8860-2018 standard, the GP-7 SRC ABP has been engineered to provide the highest levels of protection available in modern motorsport. Developed as an evolution of the FIA 8860-2010 standard, it delivers exceptional impact performance for professional racing applications.
At the heart of the helmet is Arai's exclusive SRC (Super Racing Carbon) shell, manufactured using a proprietary carbon fibre weave that combines exceptional strength with extremely low weight. Unlike conventional carbon fibre, which can splinter under heavy impacts, Arai's advanced construction incorporates controlled flexibility to better absorb and dissipate impact energy, resulting in outstanding protection without compromising comfort or performance.
Designed specifically for open cockpit racing, the GP-7 SRC ABP incorporates Advanced Ballistic Protection (ABP). Developed using a unique ballistic testing programme based on military specifications, the ABP system is designed to protect against projectiles weighing up to 225 grams travelling at speeds of 250km/h. To further enhance protection, the visor aperture has been lowered by 10mm, providing increased coverage across the upper face.
Unlike conventional racing helmets, the GP-7 SRC ABP is supplied without pre-installed top ventilation ducts. Instead, Arai includes a comprehensive ventilation kit, allowing drivers to configure the airflow to suit their seating position, vehicle type and personal preference. Also included is Arai's Performance Enhancement Device (PED) spoiler kit, enabling further aerodynamic optimisation.
